MSHP Awarded Grant for Mill Creek Trail

Mackinaw City, Mich. – The trail system at Historic Mill Creek will benefit from a $57,475 grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Recreational Trails Program. The funds are earmarked to support the resurfacing of the park’s east nature trail with ADA-approved hard-pack material. The grant will also be applied to the construction of four boardwalks to span ravines and low, wet areas.

Two seasonal park personnel will be hired to perform these job tasks, set to begin in fall 2007. The 10-foot wide trail is used year-round for non-motorized recreational purposes.
