Airport Terminal Renovation Is Underway

Mackinac Island, Mich. – Pilots will be pleased to learn that Mackinac Island State Park staff have begun renovation of the island’s airport terminal. In the fall of 2006, as the airport continued to operate for residents and visitors, portions of the old terminal were demolished, water services were rerouted, and new concrete column support pads and block foundation walls were constructed.

The winter phase of the renovation will include the construction of new exterior walls and the installation of roof trusses. The crew expects to work on the project through the spring of 2007 and into summer.
