QUESTION: How do chipmunks spend the winter?

ANSWER: Around mid-November, the chipmunk enters its underground burrow and hibernates for the winter months. During hibernation, the chipmunk's body temperature, heartbeat, and breathing rate all go down. The chipmunk does wake up once in a while during the winter to eat some of its stored food.
