Chipmunk Trivia Revealed

Following are the answers to all chipmunk trivia:

QUESTION 1: How do chipmunks prepare for the winter? ANSWER: Chipmunks prepare for the winter by building a winter nest in an underground burrow where they also store food for the winter. 

QUESTION 2:  How do chipmunks spend the winter? ANSWER: Around mid-November, the chipmunk enters its underground burrow and hibernates for the winter months. During hibernation, the chipmunk's body temperature, heartbeat, and breathing rate all go down. The chipmunk does wake up once in a while during the winter to eat some of its stored food.

QUESTION 3:  When are chipmunks most active? During the day or the night? ANSWER:  Chipmunks are active during the day, and they sleep at night.

QUESTION 4:  How long do chipmunks live? 1-2 years, 3-4 years, or 6-7 years.  ANSWER:  Chipmunks live an average of 3-4 years.

QUESTION 5:  What do chipmunks eat? Fruit, bark, or tree leaves? ANSWER: Chipmunks eat fruit.  They also eat flowers, nuts, seeds, and some insects.

QUESTION 6:  How much does a chipmunk weigh? 1 pound, 3 ounces, or 8 ounces? ANSWER:  3 ounces.  A chipmunk weighs between 3-4 ounces, or about the weight of a deck of cards.  The weight of a chipmunk is also comparable to the weight of a cell phone, size D battery, or an apple.
