About Fort Mackinac
Michigan's Only Original Revolutionary War era Fort

Constructed by British soldiers during the American Revolution, Fort Mackinac served as a sentinel in the Straits of Mackinac for 115 years. Today the original restored fort is a living history museum, with fourteen original buildings and live demonstrations of rifle and cannon firing, military music, and tours.

Fort Mackinac rests high on top of Mackinac Islands limestone bluffs, 150 feet above the village of Mackinac Island, the harbor and Lake Huron. Befitting a strategic military installation, Fort Mackinac commands panoramic views of Mackinac Island and the Straits of Mackinac. Visitors to Mackinac Island are greeted by hourly cannon salutes fired from Fort Mackinac's upper gun platform. Fort Mackinac
is now available for your special wedding ceremony on beautiful Mackinac Island.
