We are sad to share with you that the G. Mennen Williams Mackinac Celebration will be cancelled for this year. We were optimistic when we rescheduled the event from June to September that we would be able to host the event. As we continue to review the situation, it was felt that the logistics of this event were not feasible in the current environment. While we are able to move forward with other smaller events and feel comfortable in managing the logistics to make those events as safe as possible for guests and staff involved in hosting the events, we just didn't feel the same way about the logistics for the G. Mennen Williams Mackinac Celebration.
The 125th Anniversary Reception and the Annual Meeting both provide the opportunity for minimal contact, restructured food service, and adequate spacing of seating for the program that is just not possible in the same way for the G. Mennen Williams event making it apparent that it would be very difficult to host this event safely in the current environment. While we are saddened that this event will not occur this year, we are excited to note that the location will remain the same for the 2021 event.
This event is cancelled for 2020. It was felt there was still too much uncertainty to plan for an event this size given the information we had about a week ago. We had made this decision prior to the announcement on June 1st from the governor that further lifts restrictions on gatherings and events. In events with loosened restrictions, the size of this event still falls outside the guidelines. In its place we are planning a reception commemorating the 125th anniversary later in July.

To celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Mackinac Island State Park Commission and Mackinac Island State Park, we invite you to a special presentation inside Fort Mackinac. Members of Mackinac Associates and Mackinac State Historic Parks will don historical clothing representing the many chapters of Mackinac's rich history. This narrated program will feature a unique and enjoyable look at the people who forged our fascinating history and the evolution of clothing at Mackinac through the centuries.
While the event is outside, we are asking that people social distance and when unable to do so, to please wear a mask. We will have masks available at registration, if needed.

*Please note that we adjusted the start time of this event as the ferries have added a later last boat from the island to Mackinaw City and St. Ignace.
This event is still scheduled for August 15th and will be an early afternoon event at 1:00 pm. This year’s event will be held at the new pavilion just east of Fort Mackinac. In addition to our regular agenda we will be asking members to approve updated bylaws. We will be including the proposed revised bylaws with the meeting notice.

Family rate: $30 per family (A family consists of individuals covered under a Voyageur level Mackinac Associates membership or higher: two adults and children or grandchildren under the age of 18.)
Please note these events may look slightly different for this year as we structure the events to meet social distancing guidelines, guidelines around serving food, and work to make the events as safe as possible for you and the staff involved in planning and hosting them. More details on what that will look like will be included in the specific invitations for events. For all events we will be mindful of the situation and guidelines in place for the State of Michigan and for Mackinac State Historic Parks as the event or activity nears and will make any further adjustments as needed or dictated by the guidelines.
