About Our Grants

Mackinac Associates is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 1982 to support programs at Mackinac State Historic Parks. Funds are raised through membership dues, appeals and grants. Mackinac Associates supports Mackinac State Historic Parks’ education outreach program that visits 100 or more schools each winter with lively history or natural history programs. Mackinac Associates believe that a visit to Mackinac State Historic Parks’ sites is important to more fully learning and understanding our history and environment. Shrinking funds for schools have made it difficult for schools to budget field trips. Mackinac Associates has created a fund so that students can come to Mackinac.
